Open Tryouts

I feel this is just like that movie Invincible or something like that. You know the one where the Philadelphia Eagles hold open tryouts and that one guy actually makes the team? If you haven't seen it don't bother now because I just gave it all away (just kidding, there's an extra 5 minutes after that yet). Well, it's happening here in Saskatoon.

The Saskatoon Accelerators are holding open tryouts for their semi-pro league. That's right, you could be a professional soccer player (or at least as close as you can come to that in Canada outside the national team). For all those avid soccer players out there wanting to live the dream, here are the details:

Friday March 16 6:30-8:00pm
Saturday March 17 7:00 - 9:00pm
Sunday March 18 11:00 - 1:00pm (selected players only)
Thursday March 22 5:00 - 7:00pm (selected players only)

The final players will be selected to play against Winnipeg on March 23.

On the SDSA website the head coach specifically says "This is for serious, fit, and committed soccer players, if you feel you do not fall into this category I advise you not to attend. There will be fitness testing during the try-out sessions." I'd like to go out and watch just to see if there are any people who think they are fit and try out...just like that big beer drinking guy in the movie Invincible (now you really don't need to see it because I just gave away the only funny part).

So, anyone out there planning on "living the dream" and trying out? If you make it, don't forget us little guys!
